More on the Security of the Believer
By James C Morgan
Is Your Salvation Secure?
These following verses are used by some to try to
show that you can lose God's
Salvation of your soul, God does the saving
therefore God does the keeping.
"The Glory of God, and, as our
only means of glorifying Him,
The salvation of souls, is the
real business of life. "
C. S. Lewis
Do you Know for-Certain where YOU
are going to spend Eternity?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Arminian = Works Salvation - It is works if we can do or lose faith
there by causing one to lose their Salvation
of their soul
"A true believer can not lose God's Salvation of their soul.
Eph 1:13; Eph 4:30; 2 Tim 2:19"
====================================================================================
Arminian = ARMIN'IAN, a. Pertaining to Arminius, or designating
his principles.
ARMIN'IAN, n. One of a sect or party of Christians, so called from
Arminius or Harmansen, of Holland, who
flourished at the close of the 16th century, and beginning of the 17th.
The Arminian doctrines are,
1. conditional election and reprobation, in opposition
to absolute predestination.
2. Universal redemption, or that the atonement was
made by Christ for all mankind, though none but believers
can be partakers
of the benefit.
3. That man, in order to exercise true faith,
must be regenerated and renewed by the operation of the Holy
Spirit, which is the
gift of God; but that this grace is not irresistible and may be lost; so
that men may relapse
from a state of grace
and die in their sins.
Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary of American English
====================================================================================
Those holding the Arminian position confidently assure us that their
view is amply supported by some 100 biblical passages. It will prove helpful
to all at this point to examine the more important of these verses. They
can be arranged under the following topical headings:
1. These passages deal with false teachers: Matthew 7:15-23;
24:11, 24; 2 Corinthians 11:13-15; 1 Timothy 4:1;
2 Peter 2:1-22; 3:16, 17; 1 John
2:19; 2 John 1:7; Jude 1:4, 10-16; Revelation 22:18, 19.
2. These passages deal with the act of conversion itself:
Matthew 10:32, 33; John 8:51; 1 Corinthians 15:1, 2;
2 Corinthians 13:5; Colossians 1:23;
Hebrews 2:1-4; 12:25, 29; James 2:14-26; 1 John 3:6, 8, 9; 5:18;
2 John 1:9.
3. These passages deal with Christian rewards: 1 Corinthians
3:11-15; 2 Corinthians 5:9, 10; Galatians 6:9;
Colossians 3:24, 25; 2 Timothy 2:12;
James 1:12; 2 John 1:8; Revelation 2:7, 11, 17, 26; 3:5, 12, 21.
4. These passages deal with missing God's best: 1 Corinthians
9:27; 10:5; Hebrews 3:11-19; 4:1-16; 12:14, 15.
5. These passages deal with God's discipline: Rom. 14:23;
1 Cor. 11:29; 1 Tim. 5:12.
6. These passages deal with fruit-bearing, testimony, and
Christian maturity: Matthew 5:13; John 8:31; 15:1-6;
Acts 13:43; 14:22; James 1:26; 2
Peter 1:9-11; 1 John 2:24.
7. These passages deal with a believer being influenced by
false doctrines: 2 Corinthians 11:2-4; Galatians 5:4;
Colossians 2:4, 8, 18; 1 Thessalonians
3:5; 1 Timothy 1:6, 19, 20; 6:20, 21; 2 Timothy 2:18, 26.
8. These passages deal with the sin unto death: Acts 5:1-11;
Romans 6:16; 8:13; 1 Corinthians 5:5; 11:30;
Hebrews 6:4-20; 10:26; James 1:13-15;
5:19, 20; 1 John 5:16.
9. This passage deals with the unpardonable sin. Mat. 12:31,
32.
10. These passages deal with the nation Israel and the tribulation:
Matthew 22:1-13; 24:13, 45-51; 25:1-30;
Luke 13:23-30.
11. This passage deals with Gentile nations: Romans 11:13-24. Especially
to be noted are verses 21 and 22.
12. These passages deal with the testimony of local churches: Revelation
2-3.
13. These passages deal with head assent instead of heart acceptance:
Matthew 13:1-8, 18-23; Luke 11:24-28,
John 6:66.
14. These passages deal with the destruction of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar:
Ezekiel 3:18-21; 33:8.
15. This passage deals with certain issues, such as Christian forgiveness:
Matthew 18:23-35.
16. These passages deal with the Book of Life: Exodus 32:32, 33;
Psalm 69:28; Daniel 12:1; Philippians 4:3;
Revelation 3:5; 13:8; 17:8; 20:12,
15; 21:27; 22:19. Also see Luke 10:20; Romans 9:3.
Here two separate books apparently
are in mind.
a. The book of physical
life. Exodus 32:30-32.
b. The book of eternal
life. Luke. 10:20.
17. These passages deal with certain individuals:
a. Esau Heb. 12:16, 17;
Genesis 25:27-34 ; Genesis 27:1-46.
b. Balaam (Num. 22-24).
c. Saul. Was the first
king of Israel a saved man?
Some
have advocated that he was, on the basis of the following verses:
1 Samuel
10:6-12; 11:6, 13-15; 12:13; 14:35; 15:30, 31.
However,
the bulk of Bible students have held that he was not.
A great number
of passages would seem to bear this out:
1 Samuel
13:13, 14; 14:37, 44; 15:22, 23, 35; 16:14; 18:10-12; 20:30-33; 22:17;
28:6, 16.
d. Judas. Was the world's most
notorious traitor ever saved? The Scriptures answer with a resounding no!
See
Luke 22:3, 22; John 6:70, 71; 12:4-6; 13:27.
e. Simon (Acts 8:5-25).
f. The prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32).
g. Demas. “For Demas hath forsaken
me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto
Thessalonica”
2 Tim. 4:10.
=====================================================================================
The proofs of eternal security.
Does the Bible indeed
teach once saved always saved?
It surely does. In
fact, the work of the entire Trinity guarantees it.
1. The work of the Father:
a. Because
of his plan and program (Rom. 8:28-30; Eph. 1:3-11; 2:7). Note the features
of this plan.
(1) To predestinate all those he fore knew to be conformed to the image
of Christ (Rom. 8:29).
(2) To accept all those in Christ (Eph. 1:6; Col. 3:3). This means that
the believer has as much right
to be in heaven as Christ does, for he is in Christ.
(3) To call, justify, and glorify all those accepted in Christ (Rom. 8:30).
Note especially the last phrase
of this verse, “them he also glorified.” Glorification, of course, will
not take place until the rapture
1 Cor. 15:51-54.
But here in Romans 8:30 Paul puts the word in the past tense. In other
words, in God's sight the
believer is already glorified in heaven with Christ. This is the strongest
verse in the Bible on
eternal security.
(4) To gather them all in Christ in the fullness of time (Eph. 1:10).
(5) To display those he has gathered in Christ as trophies of his grace
throughout eternity (Eph. 2:7).
grace throughout eternity (Eph. 2:7).
b. Because
of his power (John. 10:29; Rom. 4:21; 8:31-39; 14:4; 1 Cor. 1:8, 9; Eph.
3:20; Phil. 1:6;
2 Tim. 1:12; 4:18; Heb. 7:25; 1 Pet. 1:5; Jude 24).
c. Because
of his love (Rom. 5:7-11; 8:31-33).
d. Because
of his faithfulness in chastening his own (Heb. 12:1-11).
=====================================================================================
2. The work of the Son:
a. Because of his
promises (John. 5:24; 6:37; 10:27, 28).
b. Because of his
prayer (John. 17:9-12, 15, 20).
c. Because of his
death (Isa. 53:5, 11; Mt. 26:28; John. 19:30).
Here the law of double jeopardy is seen. This law states that a man cannot
be tried or punished
twice for the same crime. Through his death Christ was punished for my
sin. By accepting him as Savior
I agreed to allow him to pay my sin debt. But if I must eventually pay
for my own sin in hell
(because I fell from grace prior to death) then the righteous Judge of
the universe becomes guilty of
breaking the law of double jeopardy.
d. Because of his
resurrection (Rom. 6:3-10; Col. 2:12-15).
e. Because of his
present ministry.
(1) His work as our advocate in heaven assures our eternal security (Rom.
8:34; Heb. 9:24; 1 John. 2:1).
(2) His work as our intercessor in heaven assures our eternal security
(John. 17:1-26; Rom. 8:34;
Heb. 7:23-25).
Dr. John Walvoord writes:
“The present ministry of Christ in glory has to do with the eternal security
of those on earth who are
saved.
Christ both intercedes and serves as our advocate. As intercessor, He has
in view the weakness,
ignorance,
and immaturity of the believer—things concerning which there is no guilt.
In this ministry
Christ
not only prays for His own who are in the world and at every point of their
need (Luke. 22:31, 32;
John.
17:9, 15, 20; Rom. 8:34), but on the grounds of His own sufficiency in
His unchanging priesthood,
He
guarantees that they will be kept saved forever.
(John. 14:19; Rom. 5:10; Heb. 7:25).” (Major Bible Themes, p. 226)
The summary statement of all the above is Romans 5:10: “For if, when we
were enemies, we were
reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled,
we shall be saved by his life.”
The glorious truth Paul is literally shouting about here is this: Jesus
Christ died to get me saved, but
he now lives to keep me saved. This is why he is said in Hebrews 5:9 to
be the author of eternal
salvation.
3. The work of the Holy Spirit:
a. He regenerates
the believer (John. 3:3-7; Titus 3:5; Jas. 1:18; 1 Pet. 1:23). This means
the Christian has a
new nature that wants to do the things of God.
b. He baptizes
the believer into the body of Christ (Rom. 6:3, 4; 1 Cor. 12:13; Gal. 3:27;
Eph. 4:4, 5;
Col. 2:12).
The believer thus becomes bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh.
c. He indwells
the believer (John. 7:37-39; 14:16; Rom. 8:9; 1 Cor. 2:12; 3:16; 6:19;
1 John. 3:24).
Note especially John 14:16:
“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that
he may abide with you forever.”
d. He seals the
believer (2 Cor. 1:22; 5:5; Eph. 1:13, 14; 4:30). It has already been noted
that Romans 8:30
is probably the strongest verse in the Bible concerning eternal security.
The second strongest would
doubtless be Ephesians 4:30:
“And grieve not [literally, stop grieving] the Holy Spirit of God, whereby
ye are sealed unto the day of
redemption.”
What is this day of redemption? According to Romans 8:23 it is a reference
to ‘the rapture. In other
words, the child of God is sealed by the Spirit of God until the day of
the rapture itself.
Eph 1:13-14
Eph 4:30 And grieve not the holy spirit of God, by whom ye are sealed
unto the day of redemption.
e. He strengthens
the believer (Eph. 3:16).
f. He prays
for the believer (Rom. 8:26).

J C Ryle Wrote in the Tract Never
Perish on balancing biblical interpretation.
I ask you, if not convinced by all I have said hitherto, to put
down the texts I have quoted on behalf of perseverance, and the texts commonly
quoted against it, in two separate lists. Weigh them one against another.
Judge them with fair and honest judgment. Which list contains the greatest
number of positive, unmistakable assertions? Which list contains the greatest
number of sentences which cannot be explained away? Which list is the strongest?
Which
list is the weakest? Which list is the most flexible? Which list
is the most unbending? If it were possible in a world like this to have
this question fairly tried by an unprejudiced, intelligent jury, I have
not the least doubt which way the verdict would go. It is my own firm belief
and conviction that the final perseverance of the saints is so deeply founded
on Scriptural grounds, that so long as the Bible is the Judge, it cannot
be overthrown.

Rules of Bible Studies
Presented here are many references some seem to be repeated.
This is done so every thing mention could have a Scriptural basics.
The Bible both the Old and New Testament is basic
for all of the Christian Beliefs and Doctrine.
In understanding the Bible, God's words, certain rules
are used.
1. First one must accept the Bible as God's Holy Word. Preferably
Using the KJV AV 1769 as the basic.
The 1769 AV is the Author Version of the 1611
Old English original KJV. In other words the one everyone calls
uses today is the 1769 AV, some calls it
the 1611.
There has be more commentaries written using
The KJV AV 1769 than any other English translation.
Most other translations were done with the KJV
AV 1769 as a Reference.
2. One must keep in mind that the Bible is inspired word of God.
God using the Holy Spirit to inspired the chosen
writers, God Breathed.
2 Peter 1:21; 2 Tim. 3:16; Heb. 1:1-2.
3. Remain exposed to the guidance of the Holy Spirit in opening The
Bible in study; perusing in an perspective of
prayer and instruction.
4. The first use of the term or picture( figure). Is it explain in
this use?
First use to last use Generally are the same.
If not the Word of God usually tells the student so.
The beauty of the Bible is that from the
first verse of Genesis to the last verse of Revelation it carries the same
theme redemption.
5. Second go to the original words in Hebrew, Arabic, Or Greek.
Look at their meaning at the time of the
writings.
Word meanings change over time.
6. Third they wrote, men of old, God breathed; 2
Peter 1:21; 2 Tim 3:16 - 17.
In some of the books like Revelation. They
were told to write down what they saw Rev 1:7. In
their words.
7. Permitting the historical document to help in clear up difficult
field of study where applicable.
8. Fourth what were the manners and customs of the time.
If one understands that with Egypt and
the plagues that God was defeating each one of Egypt's gods.
9. Fifth to whom were God having the authors write to and at
what time in history.
10. Sixth who is speaking. Example Gen
3:1
God is not always talking.
Read the book of Job Carefully.
Job's Friends had their own ideal
of why Job was suffering.
11. Seventh Is we believe that God is supernatural, Creator
of everything.
God is everlasting.
12. Eight Is knowing what Dispensation we are in in our studies.
This is a period of time when man is tested
in his Obedience to the will of God.
There are Seven dispensations
1. Innocence Gen
1:28
2. Conscience Gen
3:7
3. Human Government Gen 8:15
4. Promise Gen
12:1
5. Law
Exo 19:1
6. Church Acts
2:1 Present age ( the NOW ) Grace
7. Kingdom Rev
20:4
13. What are the characteristics of the bible?
14. The bible does not contradict it self.
15. What were the religious biases of their day?
16. What is the situation that the writer is dealing with?
17. God is all powerful
18. God Knows everything
19. God is everywhere at once.
20. Allowing the Bible Express itself, forgetting bias opinions
behind when the Bible overrules them.
21. Study Topics Not Just verses
This
all has a focus on how the Scriptures are understood.

Studies related to God's Salvation of Mankind
By
Lewis Sperry Chafer
A study of some passages related to Salvation ( this can apply to any
passages in the bible ) require an answer
to a number of Important Questions.
1. Perhaps when interpreting the bible on a subject is Who is a true
believer?
2. The passages quoted by those opposed to eternal security deal
with humans works or the evidence of
Salvation.
3. Many passages quoted in support of the insecurity of believers
are in the form of warnings against superficial
belief in Christ.
4. Some passages deal with the matter of reward rather than the
question of salvation.
5. A genuine Christian may also lose his fellowship with God because
of sin ( 1 John 1:6) and be deprived
of
some of the present benefits of being saved such
as having the fruit of the Spirit ( Gal 5:22-23
).
And enjoying
the satisfaction of effective service for
Christ.
6. A true believer because of his wayness may be chastened or disciplined
just as a child is disciplined by his
father ( John 15:2;
1 Cor 11:29-32; 1 John 5:16 ) and this may be even to the point
of taking away his physical
life. This not because of lack
salvation it is contrary.
7. According to Scripture, it is also possible for a believer to
be (fallen from grace” ( Gal 5:1-4) to Properly
interpret does not refer to the losing
of one salvation but falling from a standard of grace in his life and losing
true freedom which one has in Christ. Falling
back into bondage of legalism.
8. Much of the difficulty relates to passages which are cited out
of context, especially passages that relate to
another dispensation.
9. A number of passages offered in support of insecurity are simply
misinterpreted .
Mat 24:13 is
one. The refer to deliverance from enemies and persecution. Many
true Believers will die and
do not endure.
10. The ultimate answer to the insecurity or security of the believers
rests on the question of who does the work
of Salvation.
The solid Scriptural basis for believing that
a person once saved is always saved is supported by at least twelve
important arguments. Four of these works relate
to the Father, Four to the Son, and Four to the Holy Spirit.
